The Brainwashing of Americanism and Religion

The author speaks of brainwashing as a way of life in our society, especially when it comes to aging.  How to stay young, how to look young, how to stay sexy, and how to perform great sexually, like when you were young, and about what we as consumers will do to have ourselves rejuvenated, by spending whatever it cost for treatments, makeup, spas and gyms, while making others rich.  With all this that is going on, which he labels as the color wheel at play; he starts by telling that there is something about those colors that he finds disturbing today.  As he begins, he says that he has great news; it’s not really him, but there is something, it’s our country, our nation and government that is causing this disturbance; it is not a kinder or gentler nation at all, and that it seems as though times are for more uncertainty for our citizens.

He speaks of writing as being an exact tool to express the things that he must convey, and tells how one must care about things in order to proceed in life, and what this caring makes him feel about what he sees.  He speaks of the colors again being different, along with the sounds due to what is happening today, a high tech environment that is much faster, but also one that is more dangerous too.

He speaks of how he feels, his nerves after 9/11, and how today his heart is forced to beat to the beat of a different drummer.  He begins to speak of the violence, crimes and crimes that involve children, and about prayer, and how the entire the White House has pissed off the world because of the man at the helm.  Born then begins to discuss caring, what it is and how to care, taking responsibility, which starts the how to part in this book. He begins with talking about caring for children, then continues on to show that we must learn how to do just about everything in life, no matter how simple we might think that something might be.

He then talks about the caring level of this country, which doesn’t please him, and begins to relate this by speaking of this country’s citizens and billions of dollars being spent abroad, while drugs keep coming into this country at an alarming rate, pouring into the poorer communities the most, and about the outsourcing of jobs when people in this country need jobs to put food on the table.  He speaks of words used, and how they seem to have a different color, an artificiality or tone to them, and about the sincerity of words.  He says that people in the government lack sincerity in this country, and with this element lacking, the government cannot really be considered a caring nation.  He then relates the feeling of what is happening in this country to that of ripened peaches ready for consumption, but not giving a sweet smell, but a sour one of spoilage.

Born In The Wrong Country talks about the arrogance of this country as being destructive, and how this arrogance is not a friend of the author’s, equating it with how someone shows their ass in public, not a good sight to see, and then goes on by talking about how there is too much fire in the world today, and how this country added even more fuel to an already hot fire, with its comments and preemptive strike on Iraq.  Born speaks of the ugly American raising its head once again by the election of 2000, the denial of votes to its citizens, but especially to the African American People of Color.

Joy, Praise and Love

(Only an excerpt)
.......................
There is much joy at births and of birthdays that come,
but the joy of a friend is the best joy there is.
I sing for the joy of the slaves that have gone
who knew only of torment and grief that was borne.
For evil brings sadness without a glimmer of hope
and that is the cruelest that was done to you.
I sing praise to you for all the things that you have suffered
and pray for the comfort of that pain once endured.

But with the journeys that you have made, we keep praying for a day
when we can all be each other friendships to be made,
for friendship is a love of a strength that you showed
for in your pain you showed us how to love.
So as we gather around in this room filled with much hope and joy,
we thank you for those journeys of yours.
We pray to keep striking down those cruelest of thoughts
for man should be ashamed of his inner most thoughts,
for sicknesses are born but take nurturing to grow, ..........
